What a vinyl install includes
- Old flooring removal and disposal
- Subfloor levelling and moisture testing — critical on basement slabs
- Underlay or attached-pad plank suited to the room
- LVP, LVT, SPC rigid core or sheet vinyl installation
- Correct stagger and expansion gaps at every wall and post
- Transitions, stair nosing, quarter round and silicone at wet edges
Waterproof means basement-safe
Calgary basements swing in humidity and sit on cold slab. Vinyl handles both without cupping.
Subfloor prep, every time
We flatten and moisture-test before we lay. Skipped prep is why floors click, bounce and gap.
Finished, not just laid
Transitions, stair nosing and trim are quoted in — the job looks done when we leave.
How the work actually goes
Measure & select
We measure, calculate waste, and help you pick a wear layer that matches how the room gets used.
Subfloor prep
Old flooring out, subfloor levelled, cleaned and moisture-tested before anything goes down.
Click-lock install
Underlay or attached-pad plank laid with correct stagger and expansion gaps at every perimeter.
Finish & clean
Transitions, stair edges, baseboards or quarter round, silicone at wet edges, site vacuumed.
Four kinds of vinyl, and where each belongs
They all get called "vinyl", but they behave differently. This is how we match product to room — with installed pricing.
Budget LVP — $4.50–$7.00 / sq ft
12mil wear layer. Wood-look planks, warm, quiet and fully waterproof. Good for light residential use.
Premium LVP (20mil) — $6.50–$10.00 / sq ft
The choice for pets, kids and heavy traffic. Same waterproof core, far more finish to wear through.
SPC rigid core — $7.50–$11.00 / sq ft
Stone-composite core: most dent-resistant and most forgiving over slightly uneven subfloors.
Vinyl sheet — $3.50–$6.50 / sq ft
Seamless and cheapest per foot. Best for laundry, utility rooms and rental bathrooms.

Common questions
Not answered here? Call us — we quote straight and we’ll tell you if you don’t need the work.
(403) 555-0142How much does vinyl flooring cost in Calgary?
Installed, most vinyl projects land between $6 and $15 per square foot depending on grade — budget LVP at the low end, premium 20mil and SPC rigid core at the top. Subfloor levelling and old-floor removal affect the final number.
Is vinyl flooring waterproof?
Yes — 100% waterproof through the plank, which is why we recommend it for kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms and basements. A spill or a dishwasher leak will not ruin the floor.
LVP vs laminate — which is better for Calgary?
LVP is waterproof; laminate is not. For basements and wet rooms, LVP every time. For dry upper floors on a tighter budget, laminate is honest value — see our laminate page.
How long does vinyl flooring installation take?
About 2–3 days for 1,000 sq ft including tear-out and trim. Small rooms are often a single day.
Can you install vinyl over existing floors?
Often yes — over tile or well-bonded sheet vinyl if the surface is flat and door heights allow. Never over carpet. We confirm during the free measure.
