- Click-lock plank with expansion gaps at every perimeter
- Doorway transitions and stair nosing
- Baseboards or quarter round, plus full cleanup
Straight talk on limits
We will not sell you laminate for a basement just because you asked. Wrong floor, wrong room — we will say so.
Quiet, flat installs
Right underlay plus a levelled subfloor is what stops the hollow click most laminate floors develop.
Fast turnaround
Most single-level installs finish in two days, which makes laminate the go-to for rental turnovers.
How the work actually goes
Measure & select
We measure, then match thickness and AC rating to the traffic that room actually sees.
Subfloor prep
Old flooring removed, subfloor levelled and cleaned so the new floor sits dead flat.
Underlay & plank
Correct underlay down, then click-lock plank with expansion gaps around every wall.
Transitions & trim
Doorway transitions, stair nosing and baseboards or quarter round, then a full cleanup.
Laminate, honestly
Laminate is the right answer in a lot of rooms and the wrong answer in a few. Here is both, with installed pricing.
Budget (6–7mm, AC3) — $3.50–$6.00 / sq ft
Fine for light residential use. Thinner boards telegraph subfloor flaws, so prep matters more.
Mid-range (8–12mm, AC4–AC5) — $5.00–$8.00 / sq ft
Feels solid and quieter underfoot, and holds its finish through pets, kids and hallways.
Where it shines
Bedrooms, living rooms, hallways and upper floors — dry areas where you want hardwood looks for less.
Where we say no
Basements, bathrooms and laundry. Laminate is water-resistant at best; we quote LVP there instead.

Common questions
Not answered here? Call us — we quote straight and we’ll tell you if you don’t need the work.
(403) 555-0142How much does laminate flooring cost in Calgary?
Installed, $3.50–$8.00 per square foot. Budget 6–7mm AC3 sits at the bottom of that range; 8–12mm AC4–AC5 boards at the top. Old-floor removal and subfloor levelling are quoted separately if needed.
Is laminate flooring good for basements?
We do not recommend it. Basement humidity and any water event will swell the core. Waterproof LVP costs a little more and is the right product down there.
How long does laminate flooring last?
15–25 years in a normal household with proper underlay and no water exposure. Higher AC ratings hold their finish noticeably longer in hallways and entries.
Do you remove old flooring before installing laminate?
Yes — tear-out and disposal can be included in the quote. Carpet, underpad and tack strip always come out; existing tile sometimes stays if it is flat and heights work.
